Snowdrop Walks

Enjoy Shaftesbury’s Diamond Jubilee Legacy Snowdrops by walking our short circular*, short hilly, and 3km routes. * Wheelchair friendly route. FREE all day every day.

Snowdrop Central
Take a stroll along to 17 Bell Street where you’ll find our Festival Hub and the Pop-Up Shop . A treasure trove of snowdrop arts & crafts and snowdrops.The shop serves two purposes, firstly it is an information point for the Festival so please bring your questions to us. We’ll have the town Snowdrop maps for sale and can advise you on the routes to walk. Secondly it is an opportunity for your to see and buy some of the snowdrop arts and crafts that help to fund the Snowdrop Festival.
The lovely volunteers at the Tourist Information Centre and in the other Festival event locations can also advise you on basic details on the Festival, which are additionally printed in the "Snowdrop Herald".

Snowdrop History and Heritage, Shaftesbury Abbey
11th-19th Shaftesbury Abbey Museum and Gardens (where the Heritage Collection of Snowdrops is showcased) will be open through the Snowdrop Festival from 10am-4pm every day, admission £3, free for under 16’s.

Snowdrops In Art
The Gallery at Shaftesbury Arts Centre organise this lovely exhibition of snowdrop arts and crafts by local artists 10-4 every day; admission free.

Trinity Tower, Wow! the view from the top of the highest point in Shaftesbury will take your breath away. Wrap up warmly and take in the 360o views. Open on Saturdays only.

Will Galanthus the Shaftesbury Snowdrop Dragon appear this year?

Snowdrop Lantern Making Workshops* 10am-12 noon OR 2pm -4pm
Come along and enjoy creating your own unique giant Snowdrop Lantern in preparation for joining in the lantern parade tonight. Suitable for all ages, (children age 7-12 years must be accompanied), please wear old clothes. Lanterns from previous years are welcome, please bring yours along at 6.00pm to join the Lanterns at Trinity Tower for the parade. Finishes at 7.15pm at the top of Gold Hill.
Tickets - £7.50 from Shaftesbury Tourist Information Centre.

Snowdrop Lantern Parade! Saturday 6.15pm - 7.15pm

An annual spectacle not to be missed! Assemble in the Park at St James, SP78HE. Wrap up warmly and come to watch the parade and enjoy the celebrations with "Steps In Time" to mark the end of the Festival before joining the parade walking up Gold Hill. (Wellies are recommended generally but in the event of bad weather please check back here for details).

Shaftesbury Super Sunday Market Day, on the High Street from 10-3pm

A wonderful mix of crafts and food all along the High Street and up through Swans Yard. Remember to come into the Guildhall for Sales of Plants and to meet local community groups like Shaftesbury Home Grown (the Community Farm) and some of the Snowdrop team. The Pop-up Shop at 17 Bell Street will be open too.
